#atozchallenge: Charlie

Charlie came into our lives on Thursday, December 20, 2012.  He was a tiny (albeit the biggest pup of the litter) ball of yellow fur with an adorable face.  He has grown each day since then, and is well on his way to being a full grown (upwards of 100 lbs) Yellow Lab.   He has challenged us and enlightened us in ways we could not quite imagine.

This video was taken on our first weekend with Charlie.  He was trying to figure out what to do with his rubber chicken toy, and was pretty frightened of it.  He was just over seven weeks old here.   His little tiny puppy bark gets me the most (“I’ll show you, mean rubber chicken! Grrrrr!”).

Now, at just over five months old, he has this great big bark, and must be getting close to 50 lbs.  That’s a lot of Lab when he hurls himself at you after running full tilt towards you.  But he absolutely loves life.  I’ve never seen a tail wag so enthusiastically and a dog be so excited about their food (and yes, I have had Labs before).  He just oozes this energetic zest for life that is pretty infectious.

I can’t wait to see what mischief (*adventures*) we’ll get into over the coming years.

At the end of a long day, what makes you smile? Where do you draw your energy from?

  1. I’m on the same page as you. I have two dogs, one big and one huge! Winston is a brindle mixed breed and approximately 55lbs. Chewie is a black German Shepherd and arguable the most beautiful dog I have ever seen (I may be biased, but I’ve been told that by a lot of other dog owners). He is around 100lbs. I love them both, but Winnie is my guy. A friend of mine just adopted a new pup named Trooper that looks just like your Charlie – adorable.
